Connecting to Web Storage using a Windows PC: WebDAV

The recommended method for connecting to Web Storage from a Windows PC is to use the WebDAV method. WebDAV uses Internet Explorer to access your Web Storage account securely from both on-campus and off-campus without installing any additional software. To access your Web Storage account using Internet Explorer please follow the instructions below:

(NOTE: If you are using Internet Explorer 7, you will need to add the Menu Bar to the web browser. To add menus: right click on the toolbar, then select the “Menu Bar" option.)

(NOTE: If you are using Internet Expolorer 8, WebDAV will not allow you to Open as a web folder as Microsoft has removed this functionality from the browser. ICIT is currently working on a better solution and will update this page with those instructions.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Click on the File menu at the top of Internet Explorer and select Open.

3. You will now be prompted to enter an internet address.
   Be sure to enter the "s" in "https://".
   Use your campus username in place of "username".

   Students: https://stustorage.uww.edu/username

   

   Faculty/Staff: https://webbe.uww.edu/username

   

4. You will need to also ensure that you check the Open as Web Folder option.
   Click the OK button to continue.

5. When prompted, enter your User Name and Password and click the OK button to continue.
   Once you successfully login, you should see your Web Storage folders.

(NOTE FOR VISTA USERS: at the username and password screen, you need to enter your User Name like this: uww\username. Please make sure the uww\ precedes your username in that field.)

To upload pages:
After entering your WEB folder account, upload the files by dragging them into the proper folder. Note that the first page you want to come up must benamed “index.htm” (or “index.html”) for others to see it by default; otherwise, the page will display an error.

To view your website:
You can view your website by visiting your address http://students.uww.edu/username or http://facstaff.uww.edu/username.
